CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN MARKETING Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN MARKETING - Essay Example h the technological advancements, the markets have also widened which makes marketing trickier as now there is a plethora of markets and every market has its own individual needs. Thus communicating with every market is different and requires the usage of different marketing tools. Clever combinations of these tools with the help of technology can increase sales manifold or mismanagement of these very tools can hamper sales. It is up to the firm how it wants to get their message across to the target market. However, Kim and Smith (2001, pp. 211-222) adds that incorporating technology has now become essential and every firm now needs to excel in it so that it can face competition globally. Toyota is adept at its marketing communications. This is because it has reached at the top as it is the biggest manufacturer and seller of cars in the world. However, as per Liker and Hoseus (2007) marketing communication have to be varied according to the market segment, their demographics and the economic factors etc. for instance when the firm marketed its car Yaris in the UK after their through market research they focused on women aged 25-50. Kotelnikov (2010) explains that they also relied on integrated marketing communications which means using several media together to get the brand message across to the target market. As per Schrage (2010) they had a pre launch gathering where , then trained the dealers regarding the message, developed personal relations with the media and then after the launch communicated their product to the target market with the same message. The result is that the message stays with the consumers for a longer time. A sales promotion is something that the firm doesnââ¬â¢t focus much on because of the product type. They do have regional sales promotions where they sell different models at a discounted price. This is however limited argue Liker and Hoseus (2007) due to the taxes involved in different countries which affect the prices. To increase the

The Role of Corporate Responsibility and Ethics in the Workplace Essay
The Role of Corporate Responsibility and Ethics in the Workplace - Essay Example As the report declares companies have an obligation to act responsibly and ethically in any country that they based their operations in, regardless of any perceived economic or political factors that might come into play. This particular example shows that PharmaCare failed to live up to this expected code of conduct. PharmaCare seemingly was profit driven, like any company throughout the world, yet the exhibited a lack of compassion in dealing with the people of Colberia and their obvious disparity in terms of wealth. The situation presented in the case study is one of paying ridiculously low wages to the people, while flaunting their own wealth openly in the community. They could have chosen to raise wages to a sustainable level in an effort to help the country, yet they opted to ensure that the people of Colberia remained in poverty. This paper discusses that responsible international companies look at view all of the employees, both domestic and foreign, as partners in the organization. The people of Colberia contributed to the overall early success of PharmaCare, so they should have been more adequately compensated. Wages certainly are not equal around the world, as costs of living of different. So, while it is true that the people of Colberia should not be compensated at the same level as Western employees, they should still be adequately rewarded for their work, particularly for their own medical ingenuity. In this regard, PharmaCareââ¬â¢s actions in Colberia certainly appear to be unethical, particularly when considering wages and working conditions. Donna, Tom, Ayesha: Actions to Take PharmaCare has faced situations with firing employees. These decisions are certainly not to be taken lightly, and often exhibit the potential for legal action to be taken. The company itself is located in New Jersey, which is not currently a right to work state. As such, this situation is bit more difficult to tackle, as employees cannot generally be terminated without proper cause. In reading this case study, without knowing all of the particulars involved, it certainly appears as though the firings would technically be legal, although the circumstances surrounding each should have give PharmaCare reason to pause and consider their actions. In looking at the case of Donna, she did honestly begin to miss quite a bit of work. We do not see where proof of the reasons she missed work were ever justified, other than blaming it on a mold issue in the office. This claim, however, was not proved. Now, if the allegations made by Tom were found to be true, he may very well have a legal case in claiming that this termination was without proper cause. In regards to Ayesha, she would first need to prove that she was being subject to

A Comparison of Everyman and Christopher Marlowes Doctor Faustus Essay
A Comparison of "Everyman" and Christopher Marlowe's "Doctor Faustus" Everyman and Doctor Faustus are both Morality Plays, these are specifically plays that existed within the Medieval period. They were popular during this period as they were intended to instruct the audience in the Christian way and attitudes to life. The morality play is essentially an allegory written in dramatic form. In the fourteenth Century, morality plays were mainly based on the seven deadly sins as in everyman with each character representing each sin. Everyman centers around allegory. It focuses on the allegorical representations of moral issues with the inclusion of figures that represent abstractions of the issues that are confronted. Doctor Faustus follows the general five-act structure of an Elizabethan Romantic Tragedy. However Christopher Marlowe used the structure of an older Medieval form of English Drama, the morality play as a model. Morality plays tended to show the moral struggle of mans soul and the conflict of good and evil. This is evident in the play of Doctor Faustus who is embroiled in a battle between the temptation of the devil and God. You could argue that Doctor Faustus is not classed as a morality play. Because in the tradition of a morality play God and the devil are external forces that affect the individual. However, in Doctor Faustus it is far more of an internal drama inside Faustus? own mind. Both are entirely didactic in nature, they were made with the intent to educate their audience in one respect or another. There was a moral to each that conveyed similar messages. Therefore the term ?morality play? correctly defines each one. The medieval time period in which Everyman was written contained a society that r... ...the rejection of the medieval due to further emphasis on the individual rather than God. After all, the opening scene of Doctor Faustus was praising science and magic in favour of God. So where do we draw the line? Everyman statically reflects the period of medieval whereas Doctor Faustus focuses on the actual change in that particular period of the Reformation. Therefore it is possible to see the alteration from one period to another. High School and Teen Pregnancy Essay
A. General Purpose: To inform B. Specific Purpose: To inform my audience on what I see as the biggest challenges young adults face today. C. Central Idea: I will give three reasons as to what I see as the biggest challenges are; the abuse of drugs and alcohol, teen pregnancies, and unemployment. I. Introduction A. More than half of teen mothers never get their high school diploma because they drop out of high school to provide a better parenthood for their child. B. The use of illegal drugs is increasing in young teens. An average age of first usage of marijuana is 14 and alcohol usage can start at age 12. The usage of marijuana and alcohol is now very common in high schools. C. More than 40% of those who have earned their college degree in the last two years are working in a job that does not require their degree. II. A. Teen pregnancy is affecting young adults more each year. 1. Young adults are taught that it is okay to raise a child no matter what age you are. 2. Even though statistics show that teen pregnancies are a negative outcome in their lives, some manage to make it a positive outcome. B. Young adults do not realize the use of drugs and alcohol at young age can cause negative effects on your life. They feel like they are indestructible and immune to the problems that others experience. 1. It is common for teens to experiment the use of drugs and alcohol. The problem is when they get addicted and are moving on to more dangerous drugs. 2. see more:papers on teen pregnancy Teenagers, who are depressed, have low self-esteem, and feel like they donââ¬â¢t fit in will most likely develop a serious drug and alcohol problem. C. Some young adults who are unemployed, are not able to pay their student loans, car payments, and cannot afford an apartment so they have to go back to their childhood bedroom and live with their parents. 1. The unemployment rate in young adults rose significantly in just one month of July 2013 from 16. 4% to 16. 8%. 2. More than 4 out of 5 are now delaying and changing their major life decisions. I. Conclusion Young adults face many challenges every day. I have listed the main three that I consider are the biggest, teen pregnancy, the abuse of drug and alcohol, and the unemployment that young adults are facing today. Some challenges are just part of life and we have to learn how to deal with them, but there are others such as unemployment that we can change. The thing is, itââ¬â¢s not going to change by its self, and we have to do something about it if we want to see a change in the coming future.

But think of it this way: its all going to be new, different and exciting! And you are doing this before most kids do since most kids leave home for the first time when they go to college. So, what should you bring from home? Well, the school will provide you with a very detailed list of items they want you to bring, and we have a list of essential items for you here. Make sure you have all that stuff. But what else might you need? Check out this list of boarding school gear that will help make your experience even better. 1. Music Most students just cannot live without their tunes. If youre the same way, make sure to load up your iTunes list with the latest music or get a subscription to Pandora, Spotify or another music service. Dont forget to pack whateverà charger you need or even some portableà speakers. An extra set of earbuds couldnt hurt, as well as a set of nice noise canceling headphones. You never know when theres going to be a loud night on dorm and you want to get some homework done or head to bed early, and escaping with your favorite music can be exactly what you need. Bring whatever patch cables you need to hook it all up, too. 2. Laptop and Printer The school will probably specify the kind of laptop you need to bring. It may even be part of your first yearbook fees. In any case, you will need your laptop together with any essential CDs such as the operating system/restore disk, your anti-virus software, etc. A multi-function printer is worth its weight in gold. A USB hub will be useful to connect all your peripherals. Make sure you have all the required dongles and cords to make everything connect, and you might even consider purchasing an extra charger. That way, you can leave one charger in your dorm room and leave one in your bag just in case.à 3. Sports Equipment Skates, skis, soccer cleats, golf clubs, tennis and squash racquets, swim goggles, saddle, riding crop and boots. Any of all of these items could be on your list depending on the season and the location of your school. It doesnt all have to come with you; you can always order things online and have them delivered to campus. Or, just make sure you have the sports equipment you need for the fall semester. You can pick up the rest when you go home for breaks and holidays. 4. Cellphone While there will be rules about when and where you can use your cell phone, you will need it. Make sure your service plan allows for unlimited texting and nationwide calling. Dont forget the charger and maybe bring a few. You might consider purchasing an external charger to keep you powered as you go along. A good case can also protect your phone against cracking and chipping.à 5. Credit and ATM Card Most schools will give you an opportunity to get an account set up with a local bank, if you need one, which will provide you with an ATM card. Your school may also provide a campus purchasing plan through a one-card system or similar set up. But, you may also want to consider having a separateà credit card for those unexpected emergencies. Use it sparingly for casual purchases only, and make sure you and your parents have a clear understanding about how much you can spend per month. Have an ATM card as well. To prevent fraud have your parents keep a nominal amount in the account the ATM card draws against. They can always add more funds as necessary.

The Greatful Dead Essay - 840 Words
The Greatful Dead A simple definition of a sub-culture is a group of people who have norms, values, and beliefs that are distinct from those of the main stream culture. A subculture is a group of people who have a distinct way of life. Dead heads fit into this category. They believe that there are many interpretations of reality, and that everyones interpretations are somewhat valid, but none of them are real. There are two reasons why this sub-culture has continued to exist for as long as it has, the first being a historical one. The Greatful Dead was the house band for many of the electra acid tests, and they were closely tied to everything that happened in Ashbury throughout the sixties. The Dead are the aires of theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦As a result, people started sending in their addresses and the Dead began mailing them information about upcoming shows as well as new albums. They gave their fans an identity all to themselves. All of the information the band sent out, came addr essed, Dear Dead Head. A second thing the Band did throughout their first few years was develop symbols that made it possible for dead heads to recognize one another outside from the concert setting. The skull and lightning bolt, the dancing bears, and the skull and roses, just to name a few. Even later on, tie-dyes became a popular symbol of the Greatful Dead. All of these symbols made it possible for dead heads to recognize one another, and gave them an opening to approach strangers. Freedom is expressed by dead heads in many ways. It is expressed by their use of drugs, and by their tendency to do things unusual when compared to the main stream life style, such as changing clothes between two cars in a parking lot. Law officials are of course very prevalent in the parking lot of shows, enforcing societies norms. However, there is a lot of order that is generated from within the subculture, and that is very important for people outside the subculture to know and to understa nd. The Greatful Dead hire a group of people called the Skeleton Crew, who make their way around the parking lot discouraging the use and the sale of alcohol and drugs, such as Marijuana, LSD, and Nitris-Oxide.
